The Silent Years – Taking Drugs at the Amusement Park
by Marko on Dec.10, 2009, under Song of the Week
Hey all, this week’s song is ‘Taking Drugs at the Amusement Park’ by The Silent Years from their 2009 EP Let Go. I just discovered this band pretty recently and I really enjoy their sound. It sort of reminds me of The Arcade Fire, while still being unique in it’s own right. The video is pretty good, it was filmed with the students of the Paul Green School of Rock in Rochester, Michigan; I wish I went to rock school. Couldn’t find the lyrics to this one, so I wrote them down myself with a little help from the video. Enjoy!
Edit: Thanks to Lucy from SideCho records for the official lyrics. I was pretty close =P
The Silent Years – Taking Drugs at the Amusement Park (Lyrics)
sing us a song only don’t sing too long
you know I would get bored in a while
I can’t feel a thing but the constant shifting
of this transient world that we defile
all of my friends think I’m kind of a mess…
you know they’ve not been with me for life
they’re not in my head—shit! they got in my head
and are painting my thoughts with the
honest answers that offend me
everything’s gold if you’d stay like you’re told
all the love taps and sorry doe eyes
the sleep walking dead are all shaving their heads
sending shivers down cheap plastic spines
bring us the hands of the underground bands
caught pants down with their hookers in bed
sing me a song that is unfeigned and strong
let it never escape from my head or your lips–AHH TO GOD’S EARS!
