Mogwai – Ratts of the Capital
by Marko on May.07, 2009, under Song of the Week
Hello again, I’ve been meaning to post something this week, but unfortunately I’ve been quite busy. I was at the Mogwai concert on Monday, which was absolutely incredible. I’ve always enjoyed their music, but this was the first time I actually got to see them live and I was totally blown away. It’s only right that this week’s song of the week goes to them. I don’t remember hearing them play this song, but nonetheless, it’s one of my favourite ones. “Ratts of the Capital” is from their 2003 album Happy Music for Happy People. It’s a longer more progressive song that really comes together about half way through it, with the howling distortions in the background and epic guitar riffs. I should have some updates on design projects tomorrow. The image above is from pink champagne on ice’s flickr, mine didn’t come out so good. Enjoy.

Mogwai – Travel is Dangerous
by Marko on Mar.26, 2009, under Song of the Week
It’s finally Thursday! That means a new song of the week. This week’s song comes all the way from Glasgow, and one of my favourite bands: Mogwai. I just purchased tickets to go see them live on May 4th. They recently added a bunch of new tour dates for North America and thankfully, Toronto was on the list. The song “Travel is Dangerous” is from their 2006 Album, Mr Beast. It’s one of the few songs that feature vocals; they are known mainly for dynamic contrast, melodic bass guitar riffs, and their use of guitar distortion and effects. Since forming in 1995, Mogwai has become one of the most influential and best known names in post-rock. Enjoy
